End of season report

Well, we do have our last groups of open water fisherman in camp this week.   Sad to say the 2012 season has slipped past already and we are now looking ahead to 2013.   I will probably get out to a little more bass and walleye fishing myself, as the weather forecast for next week looks like temps in the high 50's which should provide for some pretty decent action.
Our groups in camp this week are still getting a few nice walleyes, and some big smallies that are loading up for this upcoming hardwater period.   Lake trout season is only open for one more week, closing at the end of September.   I am sure they have begun moving shallow for their spawn period.
Overall, our fisherman had a very good summer, with the best fishing this season being the second half of summer.   The bigger walleye and bass definitely turned on from about early August on.   The spring period was a little slower than normal, I am guessing due to the very high water levels and all the rain we received in June.
Our biggest fish this season were : Bass - 22 inch,  Walleye - 31 inch, and Pike - 43 incher caught and released.    Numerous bass in the 20-22 inch range were caught by our guests this year, perhaps the most ever.
We just had our first group of moose hunters depart this morning, they had good bull activity every day and did get a shot at a nice bull the last day, unfortunately with no success.   This was bow and arrow hunting, as our first rifle hunters arrive the first week of October for the opener on the 6th.
We are taking reservations for ice fishing, so if anyone has in mind to come up give us a call and select some dates.  At this time we can accommodate just about any week this winter.
Until next posting ,  Good Fishing!   and Hunting!!
