ICE NEARLY OUT! Early bird fishing special!!!! Cheapest anywhere!

Well, another ice fishing season has went and gone, with the exception of getting 5-6 inches of snow last night, it looks like winter is nearly over. It may be a record in the 9 years we have been operating the resort, ice out by April 5 by the way it looks!
We ended up with a short spring ice fishing season, had about 7 groups of fisherman, and they all did generally pretty good. We kind of missed out on the big pike bite, with ice going fast and early like it did. We did manage to get a few over 40 inches this year, but not as many as usual due to the fact we were not able to safely get out by the middle of March, and many of our biggest fish are caught late March and early April. Maybe we will make it out in the boat a little this April and try for some big gators. We will definitely be getting out for some ice out lakers in the next couple of weeks.
If anyone is looking for an early start to the season for pike or lakers, we are for the first time offering a special on cabin bookings for April or early May, until May 14th.
You can book a cabin with us for only $28 a night per person, plus tax, or an entire week for $195.00 per person, plus tax. (based on 2 or more guests) Let us know that you saw the rate on the blog to get the discount, and this is for 2012 only. We do have 2 cabins that are heated and have hot and cold running water, satellite tv, full bathrooms, and kitchen facilities for cooking.
Our already affordable regular rates apply to all reservations after May 14th.
The lake trout fishing can be fantastic right after ice-out, and the bigger pike will be roaming the shallows in front of the spawning bays up until mid May.
Looking forward to seeing the boats come rolling in for the upcoming open-water fishing season, 2012!! Good Fishing, Jody.

March Ice Fishing Update

Well, March is already here and you really can't tell by looking out the window. We have about 30 inches of snow on the ground and it is piled up all around the camp. The future weather outlook does look promising, as we are supposed to have warmer weather moving in, which should help knock down some of the snow levels and get us a boost toward our ice-out.
Fortunately, however, ice fishing has been good and steady the past month. The lakers right out front have been hitting very good overall, and with March now here, the walleye and big pike should take off.
Every outing, we have been getting a limit of lake trout without too much effort. They have been quite active on the Vexilar's and it is just a matter of switching to the right lure to trigger them into biting.
We have about a half dozen groups of die-hard ice fisherman lined up for this March, things should go well with them, and then we can look forward to getting into the open water season once again. This is our 9th summer already, seems like only a couple!!
For anyone interested in getting up for some trophy pike and good walleye action, along with good opportunities for the lake trout, contact us as we still could schedule in a few more groups for those that want a great experience on ice.
To all else, we look forward to seeing all our return guests and new guests coming for the first time for the 2012 open water season!
